As you might know by now, I offer pre wedding planning assistance in all my collections. The plan is to get to know the wedding vision and to ensure I am always in the right place at the right time and that my couples photographic experience is totally awesome!

Consulting timeline topics with your wedding photographer will be key in creating a beautiful wedding photo collection.

My wife and I love building wedding timelines from scratch to make sure my couples experience a relaxed and stress free wedding day.

For many photographers (myself included), the day often begins with the bridal details. AKA...My wam up!

It’s the perfect time to take natural shots of everyone having fun, the bride contemplating her gorgeous dress/bouquet, and of course to get best flat lays!

HOW TO GET THE BEST GETTING READY PHOTOS EVER:

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Find the light. When it comes to window light, the bigger the window the better. If you are planning on getting ready at a hotel, I always recommend my brides to ask for a room with big windows and to try to avoid first-floor rooms, as sometimes the buildings that surround them can block out the light. However, if you are getting ready at home, think beforehand which room has the most natural light as well as plenty of space.

KEEP ALL THE DETAILS IN ONE PLACE

If you can, ask one of your bridesmaids to keep all of the details you’d like your photographer to capture gathered in one spot.

Most common bridal details:

  • dress
  • invitation suite
  • rings (all three)
  • shoes
  • family heirlooms
  • bouquets & boutonnieres
  • jewelry
  • perfume
  • veil/hair pieces

The boys!

We know the bride is the star of the day but the groom matters too! We love to spend time with the groom while getting ready with his pals. If possible, try to place your fiance in a nice clean, open area with lots of lights and keep all his important details (personalized socks, cufflinks, watch, a special letter or gifts) in one box as-well.

Consider a doing a first look with your dad

One shot we love to capture is the father of the bride first reaction! These images are always treasured by our brides. Also these pictures will remind you exactly how you felt during this emotional time.

Keep the room tidy

Messy rooms can make photos feel a little distracting. Keeping your space nice and neat is another essential element to get timeless photos of you and your girls having fun, maybe a shot of mom helping you with your dress, the groom putting on his watch without any distracting elements in the background.

We suggest you ask your family, friends, and bridal party to help you maintain your room spotless, stowing away all clothing, suitcases, and other items.

Bride + Groom love letters

Taking a moment to sit and read your fiance's words is one of the most powerful things you can do on your special day.

Love letters also come handy if you are getting cinematography services on your wedding day. We can then record you reading it and use that audio to craft the story line for the film.

You go first!

The bride is the most important person and should always get their hair and makeup done BEFORE the coverage starts. Trust me on this one, your photography coverage does not need to start at the same time that your hair and makeup begins. In fact, that's the first thing I tell my brides, to please keep in mind that each person at the bridal party might take up to 1 hour (sometimes more) to get their hair and makeup done.

Plan your Hair and Beauty Timeline Wisely

Please, give yourself more time than you think you’ll need for your wedding getting ready. Once your makeup is done and you have put on your pretty dress, we can start doing bridal portraits while everyone else is still getting ready. You want to do them as soon as you are finish while your makeup is still fresh and perfect.

Prepare a playlist of your favourite songs to listen to

Have fun!

By far the most important thing on your wedding day is to have fun! Don't take things too serious and make room in your schedule for some pamper time!

REST EASY KNOWING THAT, YOU ONLY NEED TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF PLANNING TO ENSURE THAT YOU GET THE BEST BRIDAL PREPARATION SHOTS EVER!

We really hope these tips help you to enjoy every moment as you get ready on your wedding day.

All the love,

-Oscar & Loance
